The musical explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hyatt, a struggling actress, using a form of storytelling in which Cathy's story is told in reverse chronological order and Jamie's is told in chronological order The musical examines the difficultuies of love, monogamy, marriage and divorce, and all of the pressures of conforming to society's expectations of what a relationship 'should' be in intimate, moving detail.
The Last Five Years is where tragedy, comedy and romance merge - a powerful exploration of the trials and tribulations of the human heart that is sure to leave audiences breathless.
